This course aims at developing student's legal research and writing abilities through writing exercises and research topics related to the drafting of memoranda.

Examination of five areas of international law in depth: the process by which international law is made and developed; the process by which international law becomes a part of the law of the United States, the international law doctrine of jurisdiction of states, the doctrine of sovereign immunity in United States law, and the application of international human rights law in the United States courts. The student should gain an ability to work with international law issues as they arise in the mainstream law practice.

Rebecca Moor received her JD from Columbia Law School in 2005 and her LLM (Master of Laws) in International Law in 2006. She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
Prior to joining the faculty at UMass Law, Rebecca taught legal research and writing at New England School of Law and served as Associate Director of Professional Development at Boston University of School of Law. Before that, she was a Program Attorney at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE), a Professional Development Advisor at Northeastern School of Law, and a Legal Skills Advisor at the University of Nottingham School of Law in England.
