Courses
The study of the formal systems devised for the management of people within an organization. Students are introduced to the area of management that focuses on how to attract, hire, train, motivate, and maintain employees. The focus is on the core competency areas that will be needed to be successful managers of human resources, whether within the human resource function, some support area, as a line manager, or to set up and manage a small business.

This course focuses on gaining a practical understanding of successfully managing factors to promote ongoing, productive relationships between both employer-employees and employer-organizations representing employees. The course also discusses federal laws and regulations affecting employee and labor relations, and the methodologies for gauging organizational climate and employee relations, with emphasis on assessing employee relations programs as implemented by HR.
A leadership course that focuses on the conceptual foundations and practical skills necessary to effectively manage people. Students will explore various approaches to leadership, and they will practice influence tactics, coaching skills, and other techniques for leading people.
Students will have the opportunity to examine the role HR has in implementing a variety of methods in attaining and selecting talent for organizations including HR Information systems and the ADDIE model (assessment; design; development; implementation; evaluation). Students learn the essentials of performance management and will evaluate efficient and effective retention processes including career development and relationship management.
This course will show students how to approach the work of HR and execute HR initiatives in a strategic fashion. It will highlight how changes in the environment impact what an HR practitioner does internally in an organization. Working in teams or pairings, students will have the chance to formulate solutions to real-world organizational problems.
