The VML Hub collaborates with faculty to define and explore new experiential learning opportunities that support visual and media literacy and provides assignment support for students learning and using related software and technologies.

Instructional support

The VML Hub's supports CVPA faculty with curricular development, instruction, and student learning.

Dr. Anna Dempsey, Dr. Pamela Karimi, and Dr. Rebecca Uchill along with faculty and students working in the VML Hub.

Curriculum assistance

The VML Hub staff partners with faculty to define and explore new experiential learning opportunities that support visual and media literacy and technologies. The staff assist faculty with research and course materials related to the creation and implementation of student assignments. We also provide students' instruction and assistance with their creative assignments and projects.

Course material submission

CVPA faculty are required to submit course materials. These materials are for internal purposes only. They are not available to the public.

Liaison instruction & activities

The staff at the VML Hub offers in-class and out-of-class instruction and activities related to visual and media literacy and CVPA curriculum requirements. Liaison instructional sessions range from 20 minutes to 90 minutes based on the faculty’s requirements and student needs.  We also provide customized course study guides for students.

Research & acquisition of images & media

The VML Hub staff assist faculty with research, location, and acquisition of image and media for classroom instruction.

Digital production & transfer services

The VML Hub provides free digital production, and slide and media conversion services.

Image & media resources

The VML Hub is committed to high-quality authentic digital images and multimedia resources for classroom instruction, research, student assignments, and academic endeavors. These resources are available through LUNA,  the largest digital arts and humanities repository on campus. We also provide resource links to national and international museums, libraries and archives.

CVPA Equipment Bureau 

The VML Hub oversees CVPA Equipment Bureau comprised of photographic and media-based related items for classroom instruction or student assignments.

VML Hub facility is designed to be a flexible teaching and learning space.

Teaching space

The VML Hub accommodates impromptu class demonstrations, lectures, critiques, group assignments, and small meetings for about 22 people. The VML Hub is equipped with computers, Cintiqs, VR equipment, and software applications that support the CVPA curriculum.

Picture research & permission clearance

The VML Hub can help navigate and/or assist faculty with identification and permission to publish image resources. The VML staff has more than twenty-five years rights and reproduction experience in the negotiation in national and international copyright permission clearance. Please contact us if you need assistance

Digital asset management assistance

Do you need assistance in the management of your digital file collections? Our staff is happy to assist faculty with the management of their digital assets.
