Statement
My thesis project is in response to a deep-seated desire for peace and stability in my life. In the midst of a lot of chaos and inner turmoil, I chose to dive into a project that I knew I would not only deeply enjoy, but would be a great exercise in composition, color, and style, all of which are aspects of art I have grown to love exploring the most. What started as stylistic interpretations of places of significant importance to me, evolved into an exploration of landscapes from imagination, less tied to reality and more about the tone and mood of the environment.
I could not have known just how relevant my driving force for choosing this project would become. I, like the majority of the planet at this moment, have never had a greater desire for peace and stability in my life. The opportunity to process my fears and concerns through the meditation of painting and creating serene spaces for myself has been invaluable during this time, and I am thankful for that.
