Statement
My project Typeopoly is a reimagining of the classic board game Monopoly. I redesigned the game to inspire a greater love and interest in typography. It teaches typographic terminology and anatomy, systems and protocol, and design principles as a whole.
My work and research focused on the deep history of typography, along with the development of unique game rules, strategy, and components. Typeopoly illustrates different typefaces, typographic classification and letterform anatomy — highlighting formal variation and the beauty and structure of text. Players discover typographic trivia such as kerning, ornaments, designers, printing houses and type foundries as well as satirical typographic rules and crimes. The game is a fun way to inspire my friends and family to help them appreciate what I love to do.
