Art + Design: Painting
Biography
Katherine Canavan Is a twenty-four-year-old Worcester born artist. Her interest in art started early thanks to countless visits to the Worcester Art Museum. She also found art to be a useful tool when talking about trauma, mental health, and difficult emotional spaces.
Statement
As an artist, my main goal is to express emotions that are difficult for people to talk about. I hope that in my sharing (possibly over-sharing) of my feelings others can feel not so alone in theirs. Feelings of anxiety and depression (and all of their physical effects), of disconnection from one’s surroundings, discomfort, mania, brokenness, but also healing and the idea of being changed but whole. My goal is to make art that serves as a form of catharsis for both myself as the artist as well as my viewer. I want my viewer know they’re not alone.
