Statement
Evidence is a project about evidence. It’s about me, my family, and my friends. It’s about my life through the designs we often take for granted. It is my evidence.
Evidence began accumulating during the cleaning, moving, and never-ending process of “putting things away.” Essentially, it is the last five or more years of my life, contained in shoeboxes—six shoeboxes filled with scrap pieces of paper, tickets, pictures, trinkets, and receipts—evidence. It is my memories that are timestamped down to the minute. But I also consider it my archive of design inspiration— the designs I have experienced.
Evidence is also about consumption and proximity. Throughout the collection and design phases, I spent an immense amount of time in close proximity to the belongings that I had either consumed or had been consumed by. That time allowed me to reflect on my relationship with these belongings. I hope it makes you consider your relationship with yours.
