About Maura Hansen

Maura Hansen is a senior Fashion Design student. Her studies have provided a strong foundation in all aspects of fashion design, including pattern drafting, garment construction, draping, textile surface design, and technical design. She had the privilege of serving as the president of the UMass Dartmouth Fashion and Design Club for three years, where she played an active role in fostering a dynamic and collaborative campus community. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys organizing and participating in freelance photo shoots that explore the fusion of fashion and visual storytelling. Maura’s journey is fueled by a resolute dedication to continuous learning and growth in this ever-evolving industry.

Statement

In search of a fulfilling career that challenged her creative side, Maura Hansen chose to switch majors from Business to Fashion Design. Clothing serves as a powerful medium for self-expression, transcending personal boundaries. Focusing on the development of silhouettes that empower individuals, Maura strives to create a sense of collective confidence. Drawing inspiration from trailblazers such as Thierry Mugler and Elsa Schiaparelli, her designs seamlessly blend versatility and edginess. Deriving inspiration from the subtle nuances of human experience, Maura aims to forge meaningful connections through her work. Her ultimate goal extends beyond personal expression; aiming to positively impact the world through design.
