Art + Design: Interior Architecture + Design
About Cambria Boyd-Thomas
I am a graduating senior in Interior Architecture + Design, minor in Sustainability as well as a Commonwealth Honors Scholar. As an abstract thinker, I thrive on solving design challenges in unique and creative ways. My passion for design fuels my journey to craft spaces and furniture pieces that seamlessly blend artistic creativity with practical functionality. I am dedicated to exploring innovative methods and proposing inclusive solutions, driven by a commitment to making impactful changes in the world of design.
Statement
My thesis Community Collective (CC’s) aims to establish a nonprofit Autism Awareness Institute and an urban space for the homeless, focusing on the discrimination faced by people with disabilities. I believe that the Americans with Disabilities Act and communities are failing to adequately support this population, especially in low- and middle-income countries. In addition homelessness is a growing issue, with shelters catering to different demographics and needs. CC’s emphasizes the importance of embracing diversity and creating beautiful, purposeful designs that serve a purpose. By embracing diversity, the author aims to create a new way of thinking about design for the general population and a visual representation of change.
