About Ashley Manami Green
My name is Ashley Manami Green, I am a 2D artist and animator currently finishing my last year at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a BFA in Animation + Game Arts.
I enjoy telling stories that draw from my own life and experiences, growing up in New England as a first generation American has filled me with a deep appreciation for my Japanese American culture through food and a love for nature and wildlife that informs the art I make.
My specialties are character animation and background illustration and I hope to one day work for games and animation. I always want to showcase the beauty of life and nature as seen through my eyes. We all have our own experiences, but our pride in our different cultures is beautiful and I hope my art conveys that message.
Statement
“Moth and Moss” is an animation short that I have been conceptualizing and creating for the past year for my capstone. It shows the first meeting of Moss, a caring and good-natured goddess, and Moth, a young child in need of help. My focuses were character animation, background illustration, and storyboarding.
I spent this yearlong project working on my own animation production pipeline, from story creation and storyboarding, to set designing and prop art, character animations, and postproduction and sound design.
