Art + Design: Animation + Game Arts
About Michael Alexander Rates-Sousa
My name is Michael Alexander Rates-Sousa; I was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. I explore many types of art as my hobbies: such as wood-burning, painting, and sketching. My primary focus on art is the game design concept. There is an on-going project of mine called Out-Gunned, which is a fast-paced Wild Western styled card game. I hope to see this being successful one day. I’ve attended Bristol Community College and graduated in Spring 2018 with an associate degree in computer science under the Game Design major. After I graduate from the College of Visual and Performing Arts with a BFA in Animation and Game Arts, I plan on going somewhere with a variety of card game ideas I’ve planned, along with pursuing my game design knowledge for the future.
Statement
My enjoyment for art is connected between the physical world and the digital world. Being brought up during the early days of gaming along with playing table-top games with family and friends, I have always dreamt about creating an interactive card game that anyone can play. I am also interested in making a platformer as an indie-development and making works of art using miscellaneous tools and objects that I find every day. Ideas and concepts have paved the way for my future ahead.
