Artist Statement
I started with the prompt of a tropical island and expanded with specific questions. How would they travel? What food do they eat? I was having fun designing giant crabs that are used for trading vessels. I was inspired by looking up at different sea animals and fell onto seeing a spider crab, which is huge! So, I did some different iterations, along with designing the Island itself and developing its specific fauna. I researched various environments and cultures for different food preparations. It is important to keep to the roots of cultures when developing properly. Eventually, I would love to work on games and media that I grew up on to inspire a more hopeful future.
