Art + Design: Animation+ Game Arts
About Rachel Mancour
Rachel Mancour is a senior studying Animation and Game Arts at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She is an ambitious digital artist that is meticulous and self-sufficient who creates realistic game and film assets. Before studying at UMass Dartmouth, she had dreams of becoming a curator of an art museum and received her BA in Arts Management in December 2019 from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Rachel has always had a passion for art and has been drawing ever since she can remember. In the summer of 2019 Rachel interned in the curatorial department of the Norman Rockwell Museum as the Walt Reed Distinguished Scholar Intern. While working there, Rachel was exposed to their VR experience which featured Rockwell’s Four Freedoms. As she was jumping into the paintings and roaming around, something clicked for her, and she realized this is what she wanted to do. She wanted to create the worlds and environments for people to immerse themselves in. This launched her desire for animation, and she decided to start her journey at UMass Dartmouth as soon as possible. She transferred to UMass in January 2020 and now that her college career is coming to an end, she hopes to start a career as a 3D modeler or 3D animator.
Statement
Rachel Mancour’s senior capstone project focused on developing a 3D escape room game. The player wakes up in an apartment with no memory of how they got there and they must follow the trail of clues and codes scattered all around to solve the puzzles. The goal is to find the key to escape before the time runs out. The assets of Rachel’s game have been 3D modeled, textured, and animated by her to highlight her skills as a 3D artist.
