About Nick Pires

Nick Pires is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Central Massachusetts with a passion for brand identity, card designs, and merchandise design. He aims to combine elements of both design and illustration to create unique and stunning visuals that attract you right away. Nick is finishing his BFA this spring with a concentration in graphic design and a minor in illustration at the College for Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He seeks to leave an impression on the world around him, and to create a lasting impact.

Statement

Cafe Centra revolves around my love for coffee and for unique spaces. My cafe exists in Providence, Rhode Island as a space for people to come at almost any hour of the day and sit down in an environment involving the people in their community. I named the cafe, Centra, to be the central point of downtown Providence, where people could enjoy a nice drink and a meal while observing the art decorating the walls and merchandise.

Through a combination of illustrations from the coffee’s origin country and my own branding, I’ve brought Cafe Centra to life with eye–catching visuals and unique typography. My hope is that I’ve created an inviting space where everyone can feel both welcome and at home within their community.
