About Jacob Fay
Jacob Fay received his BFA in Photography from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2022. His interest in photography began in late high school, but it was only after his first semester at UMD that he realized photography was his fascination, quickly transferring out of the psychology program. He is interested in many different photographic processes, ranging from still photography, large format printing, video, and aerial photography production.
Statement

Having spent time in outrageously long drive-through lines in the past, I often find myself observing the things I see in line; how I and other customers funnel around the building, the painted signs on the pavement leading the way towards my goal, and the landscaping as well.
I created a study based upon the design of drive-through systems as they relate to automobile traffic, as well as the efficiency and organization of those systems compared to the availability of parking for walk-in customers. After using Google Earth to further examine these locations, it became clear to me that a “birds-eye”, straight perspective would be the most informative method to show these designs clearly. Using a drone camera, I framed the businesses in question as well as the main road it is accessible from. The height over each location varies from approximately 250-500 feet, only going high enough to fully capture the property below.
