About Dakota Shwedo

Dakota Shwedo received her BFA in Photography from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2022. She incorporates dark fantasy fiction into her photographic projects. In her senior thesis work Dakota is interested in her personal interpretation of the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Statement

I’ve always been fascinated with the idea and the history behind Seven Deadly Sins. When people hear the term, they often think of their religious meanings. This is because the Catholic Church decided to label certain characteristics and emotions of human beings as flaws. The sins are: Pride, Greed, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, and Wrath. I find it hard to imagine someone not committing any of these so-called sins at one or more times in their life.
