About Bridget Bannon
Bridget Bannon is currently the only student on campus academically pursuing Stop Motion Animation. She dreams to one day work for Laika, Arch Model Studio, or have her own independent studio. While initially wanting to do 3D animation, COVID sparked her love for stop motion again during an independent study with Professor Michael Swartz. During her senior year, she made an old dark room into her studio, for the use of her stop motion studies. After her independent study, she has worked closely with Professor Shawn Towne to explore photogrammetry and other alternative methods of creativity. Speaking of alternative methods of creativity, Bridget is heavily involved with 20 Cent Fiction, a theater group on campus that prides itself on being obscure, where she directed Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street this year as well!
Statement
Bridget Bannon’s senior capstone work revolves around her love for stop motion. She has explored ways to make armatures, walk cycles, commercial based work, and dove deep into the world of prop making. She takes inspiration from directors such as Wes Anderson, Tim Burton, Edgar Wright, and Guillermo del Toro for their quirky and distinct styles. While her final work involves her short film, her capstone project is a synopsis of all her stop motion progress so far. Her final short film titled The Tenants can be viewed on her YouTube channel along with her other works.
