Art + Design: Animation + Game Arts and Graphic Design
About Alexandra Rasey Kibilko
Alexandra Kibilko is an interdisciplinary artist with a love and passion for social activism and the ability of creative mediums to contribute to social, economic, and personal development. Alexandra achieved her Bachelors of Arts with the majors of Animation and Game Arts and Graphic Design. She has achieved national recognition for her work in Game Development after winning two state and one national competition for the discipline in 2016 & 2017.
Alexandra has founded her own business with a partner in 2017 for Game Arts & Graphic Design. She has been working with schools, studios, and individuals as a Graphic & Web Designer. Personally, her development of her practice has taken a focus on the social impacts that Video Games can have. The interaction between creator and viewer or “player” has taken the forefront of her studies. Alexandra enjoys pushing the bounds and evolving new methods and elements for her practices, believing that every medium and discipline can learn and evolve from others. Her moving across the country throughout her childhood aided her in developing her understanding of social inequalities and the impact that creative mediums can have on not only the viewer, but society and the world around us as well.
Statement
I believe in the weight of various artistic mediums on social, economic, and emotional levels. I personally believe that there is a power to create change, encourage creativity and individuality through art, especially Video Games. My life and current direction in life was shaped in many ways by Video Games and creative spaces. My hope is to be able to inspire players and viewers as well as empower these individuals. Throughout my studies and development of my own skills, I have been ever evolving in my ideas of how impactful creative content can be. I hope to be able to better understand the interaction between creator and viewer, and how we can utilize this to change the world. By studying theories and elements of Graphic Design and implementing these into my understanding of Game Design and Development, I believe better experiences can be formulated.
My work focuses on the impact that (especially Video Games) have on the players. I myself was developed and shaped, both positively and negatively, by my experiences with Video Games. Female & Minority representation is an extremely integral part of what I believe needs to be addressed. The industry has evolved, but has a long way to go. I believe that by studying the personal impact and interaction of Video Games with the player, we can create better, more impactful experiences that includes and impacts everyone.
