Art + Design: Graphic Design
About Michael Venuti
Michael Venuti is a Graphic Design Major with a Minor in Game Arts. Raised in Abington, Massachusetts he proceeded to begin his studies in Graphic Design at a nearby technical high school. From there, he proceeded to attend the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth to continue his graphic design education. In addition to this, He began undertaking the requirements of the Animation and Game Arts Major in order to expand the versatility of his skillset while staying in line with his goals and interests. The time spent between the two programs gave Michael several experiences he views as integral to his overall experience at university: such as his position as a Teacher's Assistant in the AGA Program and a member of the Uncommon Threads Exhibition design team. With his education and training from UMass, Michael aims to focus on work in Motion Graphics or Game Development in the future.
Statement
My capstone aimed to explore the balance between my two concentrations of choice. I made my goals relate to the idea of game development and execution, in addition to exploring the idea of branding associated with the topic. These aspects primarily related back to Motion Graphic assets, and how they work as a marketing tool. Assets involved in production also relate back to the world building that went into the game, while not being a directly story driven piece they allow for a certain amount of insight into the world created. As I am a Graphic Design student first, I primarily worked on the motion-based elements as my priority. I aim to continue development of this pitch based my graduation with a stronger focus on the development of the game concept.
