About Lydia Kydland

Lydia Kydland is a sculptor and musician who brings harmony to the world. She has been drawing and making for as long as she can remember. Lydia uses figures to convey various expressions through form and color, and all of her work is cohesive which is why it all comes together in this show. She is not limited to any specific material but most enjoys modeling with clay. Being a sculpture major does not mean she is limited to sculpture; she has been known to paint on walls and make 2d designs.

Statement

I am me, and there will only ever be one of me. I want to be Tarzan, Spiderman and Mulan. I fell in love with Jesus as a child, and the more I experience life the more I appreciate him. Art is self expression, and I want to express the love and energy I have inside through form and gesture. Through my work I want to embody the love and connection in my relationships with God and people. I want to shine a warm light in this dark lonely world. I have a need for harmony in everything I do, so when I make an art piece the different parts are designed to resonate with each other.
