About Heather Dowrey

My name is Heather Dowrey, and I am a senior in the Interior Architecture & Design program. For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in how the design of a space impacts the people within it. Through my education I have learned that everything, from the materials to the lighting to the way a space is arranged, can affect the occupants of a space both physically and mentally. After graduation, I plan to focus on designing spaces that promote comfort and well-being, creating interiors that people enjoy and want to spend their time in.

Statement

For my senior thesis, I have designed tiny house prototypes to be utilized as disaster-relief housing for people who have been displaced because of natural disasters in the United States. The tiny homes are designed to provide disaster victims with a sense of stability, giving them a roof over their heads and a place to call home as they begin to move forward with their lives after devastation.
