Email Policy
Please be advised that because email is not a secure form of communication, the Counseling Center cannot ensure confidentiality of any information sent via email. In order to protect the privacy of our clients, staff members of the Counseling Center do not use email to provide counseling services. Emails received from students and counselor's responses may be included in the client's Counseling Center files for documentation of communication.
In case of an emergency, email should not be used to obtain help. Counseling staff members vary in the frequency of checking and responding to emails. The quickest way to reach a counselor during office hours is either by coming to the Counseling Center's office or by calling the Center at (508.999.8648 or 8650).
After hours, mental health emergency services can be obtained on campus by calling UMass Dartmouth Police Department at 508.999.9191. Off campus, students should call 911 or go directly to the Emergency Room at St. Luke's Hospital, Paige Street, New Bedford (508.997.1515).
