Online Course Program

The Department of Portuguese offers POR 101, 102, 201 and 202 online in the Fall, Spring and Summer.

In a typical week during the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters), students can expect to:

• complete grammar and vocabulary activities
• read in Portuguese
• write in Portuguese
• listen to recordings and watch videos in Portuguese
• interact orally in Portuguese through video and audio recordings
• interact synchronally (“live”) with classmates and with the course tutor using a chatroom

In order to carry out these activities and be successful in an online Portuguese language course at UMass Dartmouth, students should expect to dedicate at least 6 hours per week to coursework. Summer courses are intensive and my require up to three times the number of hours of coursework per week.
