Remembrances of Ken Rose

Ken Rose was a 1982 graduate of Dighton Rehoboth Regional High School ranking third in his class. As a freshman at Southeastern Massachusetts University (SMU), he was diligent in his studies and active in student affairs, showing great promise for a bright future.

In the summer of 1983, the 45^th Summer Conference of the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers (NEACT) with a theme in Polymer Chemistry was held on the SMU campus. Ken Rose was the student volunteer who worked tirelessly to assist in the implementation of various programs of the conference to a highly successful and praise worthy conclusion.

Unfortunately, the promising life of Ken Rose was cut short in the Fall semester of his sophomore year when he died as the result of a traffic accident on his way to school one winter morning.

In recognition and in memory of his outstanding scholastic achievement as well as his outstanding service to the university, the department's staff and students contributed funds to set up the Kenneth A. Rose Award to be given to future students with similar promise.
