For Faculty, Staff and Students
For Faculty
The UMass Dartmouth Business Engagement Center can help you:
- Identify potential corporate partners
- Assess and prioritize companies
- Set up initial qualifying meetings
- Work with you on follow up
- Help with any formal proposals or memorandums of understanding
The first step is getting in touch with us so we can better understand your needs and goals. From there, we will help you every step of the way, up to and including working with the Office of Research Administration (ORA) and Economic Development on formal agreements.
The Director of Corporate Engagement bears primary responsibility for driving initial company outreach, and the Senior Research & Corporate Engagement Associate serves as the primary resource for shepherding fruitful sponsored research relationships.
Once we are more aware of your research needs, we may be in touch pro-actively to help connect you with companies interested in your research.
We also work closely with faculty and businesses both identifying student research opportunities, such as capstones.
We are also a conduit to Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, if you need alumni speakers or mentors, or annual sponsors for different conferences and seminars.
If you are seeking grants funding, we work hand in hand with Institutional Partnerships and ORA to help identify funding sources, from private foundations to state funding sources.
For Staff
The UMass Dartmouth Business Engagement Center can help connect you to area businesses for seminars and student enrichment activities, and help you identify alumni business leaders for programs. We can also connect you with the correct team members in Advancement, such as Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, if you have ideas or needs for sponsors or alumni engagement.
For Students
The UMass Dartmouth Business Engagement Center maintains a list of area businesses that student groups can solicit for their activities, and provides best practices for doing so. If you are a student group that has particularly close ties to industry, such as SWE or SBE, we can also help you craft approaches to recruit speakers, mentors and sponsors from relevant industries.
