Mo Willems
The Boivin Center for French Language and Culture proudly presents an afternoon with Mo Willems on Wednesday, April 29th 2015 in the Main Auditorium on the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth campus at 4 PM. This event will culminate a month long celebration of the Boivin Center’s 30th anniversary.
Mo Willems is an author, illustrator and animator. Born in Des Plaines, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, he was raised in New Orleans. After graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, Mr. Willems spent a year traveling around the world, drawing a cartoon every day which have been published in the book, You Can Never Find a Rickshaw When it Monsoons.
From 1993 to January, 2002, he worked as a writer and animator for Sesame Street where he earned six Emmy Awards. In 2003, he left his career in television to pursue a career in writing and to be a stay at home father to his daughter, Trixie. He has written numerous children’s books, many of which have received significant critical acclaim. Three of his books have received the Caldecott honor-Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity.
Recently, Mo Willems and his family returned from a year-long stay in France. Mr. Willems will be speaking about his year in France as well as discussing his series of children’s books.
A Q&A will follow the talk along with a book signing and light reception.
